July 30 Nitainlaii Territorial Park to km 641

102 kms , wild camping

We reached Rengleng River but it is a steep climb down to the river. We took the bikes with us but it's going to take three trips to get everything back to the road tomorrow.

I was expecting a much easier day today but it was quite hard. I thought because we were on the MacKenzie River delta it would be relatively flat but it turned out to be rolling most of the day except for about 2 km down to the river at Tsiigehtchic to catch the ferry across. That was at 69 kms. From the ferry we climbed a steep hill and then followed a straight, straight, slightly uphill road for the next 30 kms. We stopped twice to make coffee, morning and afternoon, as we had only one cup before leaving camp. We had expected to find something in Fort McPherson but the restaurant and store were closed on Sundays.

We met Jeff Kruy, on his return trip from Inuvik .http://www.crazyguyonabike.com/journal/jk
He was much improved from his accident and seemed in good spirits.

Except for the break on the ferry, the scenery was extremely boring, no variation from stunted trees and dusty road. We expect the same for tomorrow but the last 10 km will be paved as we will have reached Inuvik.
