June 23 Jonas Creek to Jasper

June 23 Friday Jonas Creek to Jasper Whistler campground Today's total so far 76.7
We were up before 7:00 but I had to cook breakfast before packing up. It was my first experience with dehydrated food - hash browns and an omelet. For a beginner it wasn't bad. We didn't clear the campground until 9:35. We weren't in any rush as we were anticipating an easy day getting into Jasper. The route follows the Athabasca River and there are no passes to do.
Our first stop was at the Sunwapta Falls resort where we purchased a muffin for coffee break and a chocolate bar for lunch or was that the other way around. We chatted with other cyclists who were just starting out and were on there second day Jasper to Banff. They had taken the train from Ontario to get here. We stopped a couple of kilometers down the road to eat the muffin with a cup of coffee. We put hot water into the thermoses every morning before leaving so we can take a coffee break in the middle of nowhere. We stopped at Athabasca Falls and had a look and then headed back to the highway. Aco
uple of kilometers later we stopped to eat the chocolate bar as we were two thirds of the way for the day. We had one more uphill and then were able to travel above 20 km per hour for the rest of the way to the campground. We got checked in and found the showers aren't working - maybe in an hour but we're pretty anxious seeing we didn't get one yesterday. From there we have to find the laundromamt and dinner.
