June 15, 2006 Home to Enderby

100 to campground and then a couple more looking for the pub. Our overall average is 19 kph - higher than I expected but we had a tail wind for most of the day and there really is no elevation gain or loss.
We left the house about 8:30. The first 10 km were easy - down the hill and across the bridge. It only started raining after we stopped at the bank on Dilworth. It spit on and off until we reached the coffee shop in Winfield where we shared a date square and a piece of carrot cake with a cup of coffee. There
hasn't been any rain since our stop in Winfield. We rode to Vernon taking any opportunity to get off the highway - Crystal Waters Road and then the scenic outlook drive. In both cases we missed substantial hills. We picked our way through Vernon on side streets until we got parallel to the Tim Hortons where we decided to have a "salty" lunch. While we were there we were interviewed by an Environment Canada meteorologist about where we get our weather info.
From Vernon we pedaled along the highway until an ice cream stop at a touristy fruit stand was required. The weather had deteriorated and the wind changed directions into our face. It was only another 6 k to Enderby and then a couple more to the campground
It's grad night in Enderby and all the kids are dress up. There's a notice at thecampground about taking care of your possessions to avoid theft so hopefully our stuff will still be there when we return from our dinner at the pub.

Rob lucked out and it's wing night at the pub. To avoid guilt he ordered a side of Greek Salad. I had the chicken stirfry with garden vegetables. Lots of broccoli.
